National Identity Number (NIN) Linking to Airtel, Glo, MTN & 9mobile

It is no more news that you can now link your National Identity Number (NIN) to your Sim card providers such as MTN, GLO, AIRTEL and 9MOBILE. We got the info that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) ordered all the telecommunications in Nigeria that operate to stop issuing new SIM cards to Nigeria customers. The latest on this is that the NCC has also directed all mobile phone users to link their National Identity Number to their phone number.

The reason is designed to regulate the telecom industry in a bid to stop misusing of SIM card by fraudsters and kidnappers across the country though it is a good development. According to the Nigeria telecommunications, all SIM holders have about two weeks to complete the linking process, or get their SIM blocked by their telecom operator. So therefore, we will show you how to link your NIN to your service providers and what NIN is all about.

What Is National Identity Number (NIN)

NIN is an identity number which can be linked to your network provider. The only way to register is to have a National identity card so as to link it with your sim.

To verify if your sim card is connected to your NIN, simply dail *346#. A code which looks like ussd code will be forwarded to you to show you that you have registered.

Note that the linking process should be done on or before 31st of December 2020 to prevent your line from being blocked.

To all Glo subscribers, you don’t have much to do

Glo users can link theirs by simply texting “UPDATENIN“, then your NIN followed by your First Name then your Last Name to 109 or Log on to their website and fill the form online. To meet them face to face just visit the nearest Globacom office to register

To link your NIN to your Airtel phone number,

Just dial 1211# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.
Enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
Wait for a confirmation message. If you get an error, just wait for some time and try again.
Can you see it is very easy or register online and fill the form. Also you can visit the nearest airtel office across the country.

To link your MTN line, just dial *785#, then enter your NIN and submit.
Likewise, you can also do this by visiting online from your phone or computer, then enter your name, phone number, NIN, and email address. And then, submit the form and then wait for feedback from the network.

For 9mobile users, you can visit the nearest 9mobile office or service centre to register or link yours because for now no info on it from 9mobile.

Currently, there are more than 160 centres and 30 state government institutions approved by the federal goverment to conduct enrolment for NIN across the federation.
