Both Facebook and Instagram Messenger Vanish Modes Now Makes Messages Disappear After You Leave the Chats

Vanish mode which looks exactly like snap chat are now adopting the features which are on Facebook and Instagram chats. The feature, allows users to set chats to automatically delete after the message is seen and the chat is closed.

Snapchat’s unique feature was its ephemeral posts that helped protect user’s privacy, especially for more compromising content. Since then, however, almost all social networks and instant messaging platforms have implemented a similar feature or at least tried to and now, Instagram and Facebook now has those features. On Snapchat the features is on default settings but on fb and instagram Vanish Mode is not a default setting. Vanish Mode is an opt-in experience which means you can can choose whether to enter a Vanish Mode chat.

How To Enable Vanish Mode In Facebook and Instagram Messenger

Vanish mode can be enabled within an existing chat by swiping up on your mobile device’s screen while in the chat.

Upon first launch, a screen will appear explaining how Vanish Mode works.

Once in Vanish Mode, the screen goes dark to signal the change.

Note: Both settings is on Instagram and Facebook respectively.

How To Disable or Turn Off Vanish Mode In Facebook Messenger

To exit Vanish Mode, you tap on the “Turn Off Vanish Mode” button at the top of the screen.

Vanish mode is available to Messenger users in the US now and will expand to additional countries, and to Instagram, “soon.”

Vanish Mode is rolling out first on Facebook’s own Messenger for those in the US and other countries. Instagram will soon be getting a similar feature but it seems that it will require users to update to the new unified messaging experience that combines Messenger and Instagram direct messages.
