July 2018
Perhaps your son or daughter has graduated but can’t find a first job.
It’s a common complaint among parents who have toiled to ensure their child gets a college degree, only to face apathy from potential employers.
Even though prospects are bright for new college graduates, some will have problems finding work because they make mistakes in their initial job search, such as writing wordy resumes, according to a new study.
Often young graduates who have under the youth service corps (nysc)(click here to read on various centres of NYSC location in Nigeria) will take a scatter shot approach in job searches, employment pros warn, with some sending out many resumes and receiving no response. Graduates often make common mistakes in formatting resumes that miss the first automated cut.
OR
An interview can go up in flames just as easily as a first date, and a poorly written cover letter is a surefire way to get cut from a candidate list.

In an industry as highly competitive as international development, there is little room for slipups. A friend of mine asked global development recruiters for the biggest mistakes they see recent graduates and early career professionals make when trying to get a job  to help you avoid them.

Mistakes Graduates Are Making That's Denying Them Success
1.Jumping straight to salary
One of the biggest mistakes that came to mind for Alex Ginn, an international recruiter for Nathan Associates, starts with phone interviews.
“One of the first questions [candidates] ask is ‘what is the expected salary for this position?’... Although I know that four years (or more!) of eating ramen noodles and surviving off the fumes from your bank account can elicit a trigger-ready approach to salary discussions, try to hold off until the recruiter brings it up,” Ginn suggested.

Jumping straight to talking about salary expectations might signal to your recruiter that you are less interested in the type of work they do, he explained, and more interested in how much they’ll pay you to do it.

2.Submitting Job Applications without Self-improvement/skill
Most times you might have spent a year waiting for a job, but yet you added no single VALUE to yourself. That isn’t wisdom and you have wasted a whole year of your life achieving nothing!
There are ways to improve yourself and value like I explained here; it involves adding much value to yourself. There are several ways you can do that, but one of the major ways is to; “Get a Skill”.
When you get a skill, you can easily add them up to your CV and become someone of great value. When your value is on the high side, you become a wanted commodity which would help you financially.

3.connections
A friend says that showcasing volunteer work is an effective way for graduates to connect their existing experience to the company’s corporate values.
Graduates should also seek personal connections in any company they are applying to.
“Managers often prefer to hire candidates who are referred to them by people whose opinion they value,”

4.Leaving out key examples of past experience
Interviewers like to know how you have performed or behaved in past circumstances, so make sure you are able to provide examples that illustrate circumstances, actions and outcomes.
While you may not have too many working examples from university that you feel are relevant to the workplace, try to think of those relevant to the research you’ve carried out rather than from social activities.

5.Failure to Negotiate
A good first step is to start your job search with a salary in mind. Being honest about your salary requirements early on can save you and potential employers a lot of wasted time.
Calculate how much you realistically need. Do some research online or ask a trusted mentor for input on how much you can expect to make in your first job. There's no guarantee that what you'll get will match the number you find in your research, but you should come away with a good idea of what to expect.
When you get an offer, think about it overnight and always make a counteroffer for more money, better benefits or both. It's rare to lose an offer as long as you don't go overboard or act like an entitled jerk. The key is to request, not demand.

6.Depending on your University Certificate
Depending on your university certificate is one of the mistakes graduates make when they leave school. Regardless of your CGPA, nobody would give you a job for coming out with an excellent result – except on rare occasions.
The following factors can give you a good job;
*Skills in high demand
*Professional Certifications
*Interview performance.

7.what you have upstair apart from certificate
Today’s top employers are looking for candidates who do not just bring the right skill set. They are looking for people who go above and beyond and give back to their communities and society.
The graduate should be able to look at the company and say, ‘What have I done that would be beneficial to this company?
Showcasing volunteer work is an effective way for graduates to connect their existing experience to the company’s corporate value

8.Not Thinking About the Future
For recent grads, five years from now might as well be 500 years from now. It's easy to focus on short-term issues instead of long-term goals, making young employees likely to jump around from job to job without having a clear goal in mind.
Start thinking about where you want to go from Day 1. Look for opportunities to learn, and take on new responsibilities. Before you know it, you may have already written your next job description.
2.Become a student of the industry,
Become deeply obsessed with what has worked in the past in order to take those as learnings, and adopt for the needs of the future. One way to achieve this is by cultivating relationships with mentors.
3.If you start feeling restless early on, keep your long-term goals in mind, and don't be lured away by perks like a little more vacation time if the job itself could lead you off your personal path.
4.Always remember the passion you came in with, especially in the ad world
It's a world of 'no, it's not in budget,' or the client doesn't like the work. Keep that passion that got you the job in the day-to-day. And always work harder than anyone else in the room.

So, do you wish to look younger and end the year by defying the onset of another decade? It's a silly question, yes of course. We all want to. Well, not that much younger. But just a little bit younger.
All of the ways to look younger without plastic surgery work best if you have a “virgin face” meaning you haven’t had “extensive work done” already. However, they still do work even if you’ve had a full facelift I just hope that you haven’t gone that far before reading this and other articles.
GodzGeneral brings you how to look younger without plastic surgery

How to look younger without plastic surgery
1)Get enough sleep
The whole idea of beauty sleep is not a myth. Your body needs time to restore itself overnight and that includes your face, too. While you sleep, cells are busy repairing DNA damage from the day before, so snuggle down and give them a chance to get on with it.

2)Quit Smoking
How many toxins do you think a cigarette contains? One or two? Maybe 50?
The correct answer is around 33,000. It’s quite the number! And each of these harmful toxins is dropped into your skin cell’s DNA each time you have a smoke.
Studies carried out on identical twins have shown that routine smokers look around 10 years older than those who don’t smoke. The telltale signs are particularly emphatic around the eyes.
If you smoke but are finding it hard to quit, consulting your doctor for advice is a good idea.

3)Decrease your sugar intake
Multiple studies have revealed that sugar is the absolute worst food to eat for your skin. It ages the skin by creating inflammation and through the process of glycation. In order to look younger and slow your skin’s aging, skip sugary drinks and desserts, and make the switch from refined to whole grains.

4)Microneedling:
This is not something new per se but is now “hot” due to celebrities like the Kardashians. It is being used for fine lines, acne scarring, and collagen-elastin stimulation. It is also showing great promise for stretch marks. The beauty of this is hyaluronic acid mixtures are used to drive the product down into your dermis. This is where your own dwindling hyaluronic acid “lives.” And then healing is a snap with the Lifeline Proplus day/night serums.
Hyaluronic acid product results give your skin a radiance for “several months,” and there are only several days downtime. I mention this procedure because it is equivalent to having one Fraxel® laser skin tightening treatment at a much lower cost and less “down time.” Mesotherapy used to be used for a similar effect but has fallen out of favor due to very short improvement times and no real long term effects. Dermapen is a popular instrument now in use. It looks pretty bloody but cleans up with minimal after effects, believe it or not! You’ll have 4 to 5 days of minor downtime with a deep microneedling, and perhaps 1, maybe 2 at most if you use the LifeLine Proplus
products afterwards. This combo works!

5)Exercise
*Exercise helps circulate more nutrients & oxygen to your skin to make you look more radiant.
*Exercise basically kick-starts the collagen production process of building younger skin which slows down as you get older.
*Exercise improves your posture making you look & feel younger along with making you more confident.
*Exercise prevents free radical damage which is 1 of the main things causing you to look older.
*Exercise means less gray hairs as it helps to reduce stress
*Exercise helps you sleep better which means less dark circles &
puffy eyes
*Exercise naturally boost your HGH (or Human Growth Hormones) for free without you spending thousands on injections to look younger.
*Exercise maintains your muscle mass & gets rid of ugly body fat
preventing your skin from sagging
*Exercise literally turns back the clock by maintaining the length of your telomeres which gets shorter as you age.

6)Choose healthy fats
Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are known to soothe the skin, decrease inflammation, and moisturize the skin from the inside out. Sources of these healthy fats include nuts, olive oil, avocados, and cold water fish (like salmon and tuna). Try to avoid foods high in saturated fats (like fatty cuts of beef, dark meat poultry, and especially cured meats like sausage and bologna) since these foods can increase inflammation and speed up your skin’s aging.

7)Drink plenty of water
Particularly hard to do at this time of year when it is so much easier to reach for warming coffee, tea or hot toddies. It won't hydrate your skin directly, but it will improve the way your insides work and good gut health is soon reflected in glowing skin.

8)Eat colorful fruits and vegetables
Antioxidants are your body’s best defense against free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that attack the healthy cells of your body, including skin cells, causing them to be damaged and age more quickly. Therefore, eat foods rich in antioxidants, such as colorful fruits and vegetables, to slow down and even reverse the aging process. This is a great reason to visit your local farmers’ market!

9)Drink Less Alcohol
Everyone enjoys a glass of wine after work, as a well as a few cocktails with the girls at the weekend. But where do you draw the line? Alcohol might be fun when you’re young, but the more you drink of it as you get older, the greater the chance it’s going to speed up the ageing process.
One way in which alcohol visibly ages you is it creates thread veins on the surface of your skin. These commonly tend to appear on our nose and cheeks, but they also appear on the backs of hands. And these broken capillaries are not pretty.
To limit the amount of thread veins popping up, or to prevent them altogether, reducing your alcohol intake is the best place to start.

How to look younger than your age without plastic surgery? What are your best tips?
Prayer is spiritual communication between man and God, a two way relationship in which man should not only talk to God but also listen to Him. Prayer to God is like a child’s conversation with his father. It is natural for a child to ask his father for the things he needs.
Also we can say prayer is another way to communicate with God. Though often directed heavenward, the reverse can also be true. Therefore, prayer is not a mere repetition of words, a position of the body, or a means to participate in a religious society. Prayer is the human heart before its maker. It is appropriate anytime and ideally, all the time.
Want to build a prayer room in your home, but you’re not so strong on prayer?
You can use these steps to learn how to pray and to increase prayer time in your life!

What to do when you can’t pray anymore?
1)Pray Anyway
Even if it is just 60 seconds. Oftentimes, when I can’t pray I make a commitment to pray for a specific time. I am often amazed at how, once I start praying, I am able to continue to pray.

2)Decide if it’s a sin issue that keeps you from praying.
If your pain is the result of your continuing in sin, you have no option but to confess your wrong and seek God’s forgiveness. God’s grace can reopen your prayer channel.

3)Just Say His Name
Jesus. I believe there is so much power in uttering His name that even when I can pray, I just whisper His name and know He heard the unspoken prayers of my soul.

4)Get someone else to pray for you and with you. Find another believer who can intercede for you. You don’t have to be the one whose voice says the words you want to say.

5)listen to God's voice
I have studied and worked with mentors in the metaphysical arena to help me go deeper on my own understanding. In turn I ALWAYS take what I learn and pray on it. To pray is to LISTEN(you can also click here to read on how to know if God is speaking to you).

6)Say a Prayer of Praise
No matter what is going on in my life, there is always something to thank God for. In addition, it is hard for seeds of discouragement, despair, and anger to take root in a heart filled with gratitude.

7)Take a walk, knowing that Jesus is praying for you.
That’s what Hebrews 7:25 and Romans 8:34 tell us. The exercise will be good for you, and the trust in the Word will strengthen you.

8)Read Different Prayers in the Bible
The Bible is full of prayers. Here are a few of my favorites: Psalm 57; Psalm 145 and 1 Samuel 2:1-10.

9)forget everything that has been worrying you
Let’s say you are praying for your pain to go away. Pain serves a purpose in your life at the very moment it arrives until it leaves your physical or EMOTIONAL body. This is a very difficult concept for people to grasp. As your spiritual journey goes deeper you will realize that EVERYTHING has a bigger purpose. And, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING is our teacher in some way. Your job is to be willing to be the student. Be curious.. ask questions.. As, Rumi says, become child like.

Finally, there are times when, asking with a pure heart for what is good, God says no in lieu of something better. That happened to Paul when he asked for relief from distress (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). Whether with a yes, no, or wait, God always responds graciously to the prayers of His children.
I am not here to tell you how to pray or what to pray to. I am simply someone who has found a way that works for me. I AM encouraging you to PRAY… pray all the time. Never give up on prayer. Turn in your need for answers and turn on your acceptance to learn.

We’ve all had mornings where the alarm goes off, signaling it’s time for your workout but you just cannot even. Or maybe you have a big day of work ahead of you, and the very act of getting out of bed is daunting and unwelcome.

If you love your bed but don t want to be a bed potato , there are ways to stay active even while you are lying on your mattress.

Exercises you can do without getting out of Bed
1.Lateral Leg Lifts
Lie on the left side of your body, left knee bent and foot behind you, supporting your head propped up with your left hand. Keeping your hips stacked and right leg straight extending through the heel, lift up the right leg towards the ceiling. Lower down and before the right leg makes contact with the left leg, raise the leg back up. Perform 20-30 reps on one side and flip over to repeat on the other side.

2.Hip Bridge
With your knees bent and feet planted on the bed, keep your arms at your side, squeeze your glutes together, lift your hips and hold for 1 minute.

3.Side Plank With Twist
Lie on your right side and place your right forearm on the bed. Keeping your hips, shoulders, and feet stacked, brace your core as you lift your hips up toward the ceiling as high as you can. Stretch your left arm straight up toward the ceiling. Without touching the bed, slowly lower your hips, then return to starting position. Keeping your core tight, twist from the waist as you bring your left arm down and underneath your body. Return to starting position to complete one rep. Continue for 30 seconds, then repeat on the opposite side. (To make this move slightly easier, stagger your feet or place your top foot on the bed in front of you.)

4.Maximum Efficiency
Pull your bent knees to your belly, and put your arms flat on the sides, putting your bent legs to the left at the same time and turning your head right. Then repeat the same with the other side. Do this as many times as you like.
For maximum efficiency, get up from your bed and crawl on all fours a bit, breathing with your stomach.

5.Scissor legs
Place your hands on the sides while lying on your back with your palms facing downwards. Put both feet straight up into the air and point your toes out. Lower your right leg down towards the bed (but not touching it). While bringing it down, keep the left leg straight, engaging your core. Then bring your left leg in a similar way without touching the bed. Switch side and repeat.

6.Push Ups
We’ve all heard of this exercise, and that’s because it’s highly beneficial for adding strength to your core, arms and mid-section. Start by placing your knees or toes and your hands on the bed, with your arms fully extended and while keeping your back straight. Next, lower your chest to the bed, then return to starting position. Perform as many reps as possible.

7.Supine Twist
Lie on your mattress on the right side of your body in a fetal position. Bend the knees to 90 degrees and place the arms straight in front the right shoulder. To support your head, lie on a pillow. Inhale and lift the top arm up and rotate left to the point of comfort. Some people can open completely into a lying spinal twist. If you can't open that far, rest your left hand on top of pillows stacked next to you. Let your gaze your follow the left hand. Hold for 20 seconds and bring left hand back to meet the right arm. Flip over and switch sides so you stretch the other side.

8.Diamond Reverse Crunches
Lie on your back with your arms along your sides, palms facing down. Bring your feet together and open your knees out to the sides so the space between your legs resembles a diamond. Press into your palms and brace your core as you raise your feet up over your hips. From this position, lift your hips up off the bed to drive your feet straight up toward the ceiling. With control, bring your hips back to the bed. (Don't drop your feet.) That's one rep.

9.Outer thigh lifts
Lie on your right side, using your right arm to support your head, and keep your legs stacked on top of each other. Slowly lift your left leg to about a 60-degree angle from the ground, then slowly release back down without touching your right leg between reps. Complete 30 reps on each side.

10.Wringing
Still lying on your back with the cushion under your neck, take your right hand into your left one and, applying some force, rub it down from the little finger to the elbow, and then still lower to the waistline, thus ’wringing’ everything bad from your arm. Repeat the same for the other arm.

After an intense campaign between the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the major opposition in Ekiti state, the All Progressive Congress, (APC), the people of Ekiti has gone to polls to decide who will be the next governor of the state.
Although the PDP and the APC are not the only contending parties in today’s Ekiti Governorship elections, there are also other 32 political parties seeking to take over power in the state.
According to records by the Independent National Electoral Commission, in the 16 council areas of the state, there are 177 registration areas; 2,195 polling units; and 256 polling points, with 913,334 registered voters.
However, out of the figure, 667,270 are accredited to vote, representing 73 per cent of the registered voting population.
Security have also been raised by the federal government as 30,000 policemen has been deployed in various parts of Ekiti State to ensure safety of lives and properties during the governorship polls. –GodzGeneral

6:00AM – The tenure of Governor Ayodele Fayose comes to an end on October 15, 2018 having taken the oath of office on October 16, 2014. Fayose in the June 21, 2014 governorship election had defeated the then sitting governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who ran on the platform of the APC.
Fayose is in his second term having first taken oath of office in 2003 when he governed till 2006 before his impeachment. He is hoping to hand over to his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola. Olusola emerged as the PDP candidate at a primary election conducted on May 8, 2018 and he is contesting against Fayemi, who defeated 32 other aspirants to emerge as the APC candidate at a keenly contested primary held on May 12, 2018.

The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development is seeking a return to the office he lost in the 2014 poll. Will Fayose succeed in installing a successor, a feat no outgoing governor had achieved since Ekiti became a state in 1996 and produced a civilian governor in 1999?
Will Fayemi, on the other hand, stop Fayose from achieving the record by staging his own comeback to power?
Join us here today as we bring to you live updates of the Ekiti governorship election

Yesterday:I disarm Buhari – Fayose says as he prays for Eleka

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Kolapo Eleka Olusola that he will be declared winner by Saturday night.

Fayose stated this in a new video, where he could be seen clutching a Bible on his left hand and laying his right hand on Olusola.

Olusola, a professor, is the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, endorsed by Fayose as his successor.

“In the name of Jesus! Lord God of heaven, I pray by the grace you have given me to be the leader of this state, I commit you Kolapo Olusola into God’s hands, receive power to succeed me in Jesus name,” Fayose said to which the people assembled shouted “Amen”.

“They have come together to destroy the votes; they have come to cause confusion. They boast of their powers in Abuja, we boast in the power of Jesus, we are boasting of your name oh Lord. Lord it is settled in the name of Jesus.

“Tomorrow before the night falls, you will be declared, you will be declared, you will be declared!

“I disarm your enemies; I disarm them, I disarm them… I disarm Buhari in the name of Jesus! It is done. The Lord said I should congratulate you

Amen

Are you thinking about how to make money as a student? Here's how you can make money online.
Chasing a university degree and having a business seem incompatible. Right? A lot of people probably think you can't combine these two because both require your attention.
Don't believe it. It is possible to pursue a degree and run after a business and still finish with good grades.
You only need to combine your academic pursuit with the right business that won't take your attention away from your academic goals.
On this page you'll find all the best ways to make money in your spare time whilst at university based on our own experience. We'll keep adding new ways to this page so go ahead and bookmark it. And please do share your own ideas in the comments

Ways on how to make money online as a student
Where else can you do this if not online? As a student, you can make money online and still manage your academic life. Here are the ways to make money online as a student.
1)Online surveys
An increasingly popular way for students to make money is to fill out online surveys in their spare time. Research companies are always recruiting new members to answer surveys and test new products.
For a few minutes of form filling, you can make a couple of quid which is paid as cash or rewards. You can bag up to #200-#500(€3-€5) for some surveys

2)Blogging
In this digital age, if you can write, you can make money.
Your writing skill can help you make some money as a student. blogging are associated with writing and with your writing gift, you can conveniently make money by writing for online platforms and get paid for your contents.

3)Tutoring Online
As a student, There are many reputable tutoring agencies online you can join to find clients that need tutoring in subjects you are particularly knowledgeable. These agencies will let you apply to become an online tutor and connect you with the students or clients that need help in your area or areas of expertise. You can do this work part-time, making some nice extra money to pay bills.
You will need a Skype account and high speed Internet connection to offer tutoring in academic or non-academic subjects.

4)start your own website
Interested in generating passive income? You need a website. It’s THE way to make money while you sleep. Starting a website takes less than 20 minutes, costs hardly anything and can be done by an 82 year-old. It only takes a bit of plugging on social media to get your first visitors, and there are plenty of ways to monetise your site. Save the Student is just one example of a successful website, started at university by Owen Burek in his first year, which has since grown into a full-time and sizable enterprise.

5)buy and sell domain
A domain name is just a website and there are lots of extensions (.com, .net etc). They cost as little as £1.99 to register with yet premium domain names can fetch £1,000s if not millions when sold on. In 2007, a website went for a cool $35m! Now you’re probably not going to come across anything like that, but you can still turn a quick profit with a bit of searching. The trick is to find available domain names which have some commercial value, snap them up and then list them for sale on a site

6)Become A YouTube Video Blogger
If you have a gift for video, becoming a YouTube blogger is a great way to earn extra cash. You get paid based on the advertisements displayed on your videos – so the more people that watch your videos, the more you get paid. It's estimated that video bloggers on YouTube get roughly $7.60 per each 1,000 views of their videos.

7)create an app
If you have some programming talents, you can create an iPhone or Android app and sell it in the App Store. Many people have found success with creating both games and regular apps. The trick is to find an unmet need and harness it.

8)sell goods online
This is a simple business for ladies, students and even men as well. Here all you need do is advertise and sell clothes on ebay or any other business platform like jumia and get rewarded.
What’s your take on this? We believe this article was helpful, if yes, don’t hesitate to share this information with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Google plus.

The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University will like to correct the erroneous impression been circulated virally on various online outlets and social media platforms. This was that the University, especially the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, deliberately hatched a plan to ensure that students are on Campus to coerce them to record nothing less than 10,000 votes for the ruling PDP Govt in Ekiti in direct collusion with INEC.

click here to read on Excellence mind shift

The Vice Chancellor who was in for the Conference of Vice Chancellors' of Nigerian Universities which started over the weekend at the time the information went viral on social media platforms debunked this rumour as fabrications and unfounded lies calculated to embarrass him. He said " I am not a politician in any form and hence unknown to INEC which made it impossible for me to hold any meeting with people I never met'
In his words, Ekiti State University is immune through the autonomy granted it by law to perform her statutory mandates which includes to train students and leaders and by implication to teach, do examinations. conduct research etc. Students Semester Examinations are therefore mandatory. On voting, there is only one polling Unit on the Campus of EKSU as the University is nonresidential and has one polling unit of 500 voters. There is the plan by our Security Dept never to allow anyone not recognised as valid voters at this Campus unit entry into the Campus on the day of election. The rumour about 10,000 voters planned is unfounded.

The University Authority will like to place on record that the First Semester 2017/2018 Academic Session had dragged from October 2017. It has been unnecessarily prolonged because of the 3-month industrial action embarked upon by the university staff unions and hence Academic Calendar was disrupted heavily and management efforts were geared towards concluding the Semester as quickly as possible, This was the reason why the Examinations which started on the week of 23rd Convocation Ceremonies was not postponed throughout the period of Convocation, i.e. June 19-23, 2018. The Examinations Time Table was approved by the University Senate effective across all Faculties and Departments. The shifts made by management twice were occasioned by the work-free days declared by the Visitor to the University which we had to comply with.
The University will like to inform Parents and Guardians, especially Ekiti people that as students write today's papers ie Thursday July 12, 2018, tomorrow Friday July 13 is free for all students who may wish to travel to places of their choice to cast their votes. Examinations will however resume on Monday, after the election.
The University wishes Ekiti People a SAFE, FREE, FAIR AND TRANSPARENT ELECTION, devoid of CHAOS on Saturday, July 14, 2018.

What is success to you?
To some, when they think of success, they imagine wealth. Others want power. Some just want to make a positive impact on the world.
All of these are perfectly valid, indeed success is a concept that means different things to different people. Though, no matter what success is to you, it almost certainly isn’t something will come easily.
There are countless books and guides to being successful, however, as success is personal and unique to each individual. The advice contained in these write up can often not be relevant. Therefore following the advice of a single individual can often be unhelpful.
With this in mind, considering the advice of a great many people, people whose ideas of success were different both to each other, and quite possibly, to you can be a good alternative.

“Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.” -Jim Rohn

Success isn’t complicated But like financially illiterate individuals can’t understand how to become wealthy, or health-illiterate individuals can’t understand how to lose weight, success can look impossible to achieve.
But success  true, lasting success   is within your grasp. It is possible. It is available, to every person, at this moment.
Right now, you can make a decision to become a student of success. You can start on a journey that will take you to a future where everything you want is possible.
The principles to get there aren’t easy, but they are simple.
If you want to achieve true, lasting success in your life ,the kind of success that will be the foundation for your life’s legacy

How to become successful
1. Focus on commitment, not motivation.
Just how committed are you to your goal? How important is it for you, and what are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve it? If you find yourself fully committed, motivation will follow.

2.Think big.
There are few artists as influential as Michaelangelo. Today centuries after his death, his work still inspires and connects to people . His work is world famous, just think of his statue of David, or the Mural in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican.
Imagine then, if he decided not to work as an artist.
Being a successful artist has always been extremely difficult, imagine if he decided to give up this ambition in favour of something easier?
Oftentimes, people often decided to put their dreams aside for something more “realistic”. To give up their dream for something easier. This quote teaches us the danger of such a point of view.

Instead be ambitious.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”

3.Set a SMART goal
How often have you set a New Year’s Resolution — and have it completely fail by the end of the year?
Maybe you set a vague goal like, “I’m going to get healthy this year!” And at first, it’s exciting!
You buy a new gym membership, dig up your old gym clothes, and start heading to the gym every day. For a week too!
But then you miss a day. That’s fine, you’ll just go tomorrow.
But then tomorrow comes along and you realize that you actually have some more work you’d like to get done.
By the end of the week you haven’t gone at all and your gym shorts are just collecting dust on your floor.
That’s because the problem with typical goal setting is that the goals set are too broad  and you have no idea where to start. So when you set a goal like, “I want to get healthy,” you end up spinning your wheels.
That’s why I’m a big proponent of SMART objectives.
SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-oriented. And with each element in SMART objectives, you’re going to want to ask yourself a set of questions that’ll help you develop a winning goal.
Specific; What will my goal achieve? What is the precise outcome I’m looking for?
Measurable; How will I know when I’ve accomplished the goal? What does success look like?
Attainable; Are there resources I need to achieve the goal? What are those resources? (eg gym membership, bank account, new clothes, etc)
Relevant; Why am I doing this? Do I really WANT to do this? Is it a priority in my life right now?
Time-oriented;What is the deadline? Will I know in a few weeks if I’m on the right track?
Knowing this, we’re going to want to reframe that “I want to be healthy” goal into something much mores specific and actionable such as, “I want to eat 3 healthy meals per week and go to the gym 2 times a week for 15 minutes.”
Do you see how much better the SMART objective is than just vague goal setting?
A few years ago, when I was feeling overwhelmed. I was in the middle of writing one of my post, building my business, and was running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
One of my friends asked me, “What’s your number one goal?”
The question made me nervous so I didn’t want to answer. I was afraid if I said my single most important goal, I’d be closing doors to all of my other goals which were many.
So I told him, “I want to be a best article writer, but I also want to generate $X million in revenue and I want to do this publicity and blah blah blah ” He cut me off and said, “Cut the BS. What’s your number one goal?”
Again, I hedged. But he pushed me and forced me to get crisp. I said, “I want this write up to be the best article in Nigeria.”
There it was. We hate giving ourselves constraints because it feels limiting. It feels like we’re giving something up, and that’s exactly what it felt like in that moment.
However, it’s also freeing at the same time. Once I actually said out loud that I wanted to become a bestselling author, it became crystal clear what I needed to do in order to achieve my goal. I focused all of my attention on those things.
If you want to become successful  in any area of your life  you have to have that kind of focus.
Here’s an excerpt from an interview I did with my longtime friend onifade michael. He’s the one who called me out.

Noah is a master at helping people (and himself) get laser-focused on their goals. Pay special attention at 3:53 where he talks about the strategy that he learned from Mark Zuckerberg that has brought him success.

4.Find what you love to do and do it.
“You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job and not be paid for it.”

This is a good quote to remember and think about when you’re at work.
Imagine being as successful as possible in your current job. Ultimately you’ll probably find yourself working extremely hard and this it will take up much of your time.
If it’s a job you hate, then being successful at it might only mean filling your life with something you hate to do. What’s the sense in this?
Instead, why not focus on doing something you love? Success at this means the fulfilment of your dreams.

Even if you’re not successful, you still filled your time with something you love to do. Many successful musicians spent years of their lives doing unpaid performances, the only reason they kept playing was because they loved to perform.

5.Seek knowledge, not results.
If you focus on the excitement of discovery, improving, exploring and experimenting, your motivation will always be fueled. If you focus only on results, your motivation will be like weather it will die the minute you hit a storm. So the key is to focus on the journey , not the destination. Keep thinking about what you are learning along the way and what you can improve.

6.Learn how to balance life.
All too often, people think that to be successful, they need to make the object of their success their life.
If a person thinks their job will lead them to success, then they may spend countless hours per day, and well into the evening working hard.
However this comes at the cost of rest , your health and having an enjoyable life. Ultimately they may burn out and cease to be successful at their job anyway.
If success comes from having a strong social life and a good group of friends, their job may suffer; meaning that they may lose their job, and then be unable to afford going out with friends.
In these ways, success, as Phil Knight says above, is helped by balance. Think of it as a balance between rest and work, or work and play.

7.Get rid of stagnating thoughts.
Thoughts influence feelings and feelings determine how you view your work. You have a lot of thoughts in your head, and you always have a choice of which ones to focus on: the ones that will make you emotionally stuck (fears, doubts) or the ones that will move you forward (excitement, experimenting, trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone ).

8.Don’t rely on others.
You should never expect others to do it for you, not even your partner, friend or boss. They are all busy with their own needs. No one will make you happy or achieve your goals for you.
It’s all on you .

9.Be a person of action.
Though it was said hundreds of years ago, it works just as much today as it ever had. It applies to literally any successful person.
Think about it, picture someone like William Shakespeare:
When we think of the time he lived in, we think of the time in a way shaped by him. When we think of Renissance era Italy, we think of Michaelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.
Or think about the present day:
Bill Gates or Steve Jobs. Our current way of life would simply be incomparably different if they didn’t accomplish what they did.
You’re probably reading this article on a device by a company that they either founded or companies influenced by them.
All these figures were proactive, they saw ways to do things differently and did them. If they let the world shape them, then they’d simply fit into the background. Instead they shaped the world.
Applying this to you?

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”

Don’t be afraid of going outside the norm. If you can think of a better way to do something, do it that way. If you fail, try again.

10.Protect yourself from burnout.
It’s easy to burn out when you are very motivated. Observe yourself to recognize any signs of tiredness and take time to rest. Your body and mind rest when you schedule relaxation and fun time into your weekly calendar. Do diverse tasks, keep switching between something creative and logical, something physical and still, working alone and with a team. Switch locations. Meditate, or just take deep breaths, close your eyes, or focus on one thing for five minutes.
Here’s how to protect yourself from burnout.
You lack motivation not because you are lazy or don’t have a goal. Even the biggest stars, richest businesspeople or the most accomplished athletes get lost sometimes. What makes them motivated is the curiosity about how much better or faster they can get. So above all, be curious, and this will lead you to your goals and success.

Things You Must Quit Doing To Be More Successful
1.Quit doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Albert Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Despite his popularity and cutting insight, there are a lot of people who seem determined that two plus two will eventually equal five. The fact is simple: if you keep the same approach, you’ll keep getting the same results, no matter how much you hope for the opposite. If you want different results, you need to change your approach, even when it’s painful to do so.

2.Quit Saying Tomorrow
You know the saying, “Yesterday you said tomorrow?” Seriously, stop that! Delaying or procrastinating around something that you think is important means one of two things. You’re either scared to start because it means your life will change or you want it for the wrong reasons (i.e. someone else is encouraging you to do it).
So yes, that new healthy eating thing you want to do will be very difficult and possibly unpleasant. But every day you wait to start is another day you’re not helping yourself. And you keep telling yourself that you’ll wait until the kids are a certain age before you finish your degree, but is that really the main reason you’re waiting? Or is it because studying is not nearly as exciting as all the other options you have right now? And while you’re at it, why are you donating free money to the gym? They haven’t seen you in months.

3.Quit saying “yes.”
Every “yes” you utter is a tradeoff. By saying “yes” to one thing, you’re saying “no” to something else. Saying “yes” to staying late at work, for example, might mean saying “no” to the gym or to time spent with your family. Research conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, showed that the more difficulty you have saying “no,” the more likely you are to experience stress, burnout, and even depression. Saying “no” is indeed a major challenge for many people. No is a powerful word that you should not be afraid to wield. When it’s time to say “no,” avoid phrases such as I don’t think I can or I’m not certain. Saying “no” to a new commitment honors your existing commitments and gives you the opportunity to successfully fulfill them. When you learn to say “no,” you free yourself from unnecessary constraints and free up your time and energy for the important things in life.

4.Quit doubting yourself.
Confidence plays a huge role in success. Hewlett-Packard conducted an interesting study whereby they analyzed the process through which people applied for promotions at the company. Women, it turned out, only applied when they met 100% of the criteria for the job they wanted, while men applied when they met 60% of the criteria. The researchers postulated that one of the (many) reasons men dominated the upper echelons of the company is that they were willing to try for more positions than females. Sometimes confidence is all it takes to reach that next level. The trick is, you have to believe it. If you doubt yourself, it won’t work. Faking confidence just doesn’t produce the same results.

5.Quit Expecting
I got an email the other night from someone looking for advice after reading this article . He told me that he’s been working for the same company for his entire career, rising through the ranks and loving it. But recently he realized he’s hit a wall – he’s had many reviews and each time he meets with management, they’re not giving him the promotion he knows he’s ready for. My question to him was, “Have you asked for it?”
It’s very rare for a company to proactively promote someone at a fast pace. Especially true in older organizations, if you expect your company to promote you when they feel you’re ready for it, you’ll be sitting around waiting for about 10 years to reach the next level.
Your boss is like your significant other. Don’t expect them to read your mind. They’ll only know what you need when you tell them. If you really have your heart set on something (like a promotion), you must be vocal about it. If you don’t speak up, you’re leaving the translation up to them. Expect at your own risk.

6.Bringing It All Together
There are dozens of ways we get in the way of achieving our full potential. We doubt ourselves, we decide that something is just too hard, or we tell ourselves that we’ll worry about it tomorrow. If you really want to succeed and I mean really succeed —stop focusing so much on what you should be doing and, instead, take a really good look at the things you should quit doing. It takes a great deal of emotional intelligence to pull this off.
